Deaf-led
We are led by deaf BSL signers from across Wales, guided by lived experience and community priorities.
BSL-first
Our work promotes the use, visibility, and understanding of British Sign Language across research, policy, and services.
Creating change
We support research, develop tools, and engage with organisations to improve everyday life for deaf people in Wales.
BSL (Wales) Act Campaign
Why we need a BSL Act
BSL signers still face barriers in education, health, employment and public services across Wales. A BSL Act would help address these inequalities.
What the Act should do
We are calling for clear duties on public bodies, stronger accountability, and real improvements in access to services for BSL users.
Working with the community
We encourage and provide resources for deaf BSL signers across Wales to ensure the Act reflects lived experience and community priorities.
Working with government
We provide evidence, policy guidance, and recommendations to the Senedd and the Welsh Government.
Action Plan and Toolkit
How researchers should engage with the Welsh deaf community
This action plan is based on feedback gathered from the research sandpit in Swansea and the community workshops in North and West Wales, as well as a follow-up survey. It identifies five key priorities for researchers to improve engagement with the Welsh deaf community.
